Test DaF

TestDaF or Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache – Test of German as a foreign language – is a standardised German language test of language proficiency for non-native speakers of German. It aims mainly at people who would like to study and research at German universities, academics and scientists, also people planning to come to Germany to work or do business. TestDaF certificate can serve as an internationally recognised evidence of knowledge of German language and might contribute for its holders in boosting their further academic or professional career at home or abroad. The TestDaF can be taken outside of Germany in licensed test centres in almost 100 countries.

There are 3 TestDaF levels or Niveaus: TDN 3, TDN 4, and TDN 5. The TestDaF levels are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe (CEFR) which means that your proficiency and your language skills can be assessed according to international language standards.

The TestDaF is a very serious exam that requires from you versatile language skills and background knowledge. It assesses not only the language skills you need for studying and living in Germany but also your common background knowledge relating to your own culture, foreign languages you have learnt, your life experience. The wider your life horizons, the easier it will be to pass the exam.
